Currently, there are mainly five test methods for PCBA board:
1. Manual visual test method
Manual visual testing is one of the most widely used online testing methods to confirm component mounting through human vision and comparison. But as production increases and PCB boards and components shrink, the method becomes less and less applicable.Low upfront cost and no test fixture are its main advantages;High long-term costs, discontinuous defect detection, difficulty in data collection, lack of electrical testing and visual limitations are also major drawbacks of this approach.
2. Test method of Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
This test method is also known as automatic visual test, usually used before and after reflow, which is a relatively new method to confirm manufacturing defects, and has a better inspection effect on the polarity of components and the existence of components.It is a non-electrical, non-clamp on-line technology.Its main advantages are easy following diagnosis, easy program development and no fixture;The main shortcoming is poor short circuit recognition and no electrical testing.
3. Functional Test Test method for PCBA board
Functional testing is an early principle of automatic testing. It is a basic test method for a specific PCBA or a specific unit.It can be done with a variety of test equipment.The main functional tests are Final Product Test and new entity model (Hot mock-up).
4. Flying probe test method for PCBA board
Flying probe tester,is also a commonly used test method.Thanks to advances in mechanical accuracy, speed and reliability, it has been universally welcomed in the past few years.In addition, the requirement of a test system with fast conversion and no jig capability required for Prototype manufacturing and low-production manufacturing makes the flying probe test an excellent choice.The main advantages of the flying probe tester are that it is a tool for rapid arrival to market time, automatic generation of testing, no jig cost, good diagnosis and easy programming.
5. Test method of Manufacturing Defect Analyzer (MDA)
MDA is a good tool for diagnosing manufacturing defects only in high yield/low mixing environments.The main advantages of this test method are low initial cost, high output, easy following diagnosis, rapid and complete short circuit and open circuit test, etc.The main drawback is that functional testing is not possible, there is usually no test coverage indication, fixtures must be used, and testing costs are high.
